Study Critique and Response

 What happens when plain water is tested for toxicity using EPA's official methods? In a recent blind study, nearly 40% of such samples were erroneously reported to be toxic. The study was accepted for publication in SETAC's peer-reviewed journal Environmental Toxicology & Chemistry. The article appears in the Jan./Feb. of 2000 issue.
